TUDOR. The Welsh form of Theodore. The surname of an English dynasty, descended from Edmund Tudor, a Welsh gentleman of ancient blood. In the Domesday of Shropshire we have, as subtenant of Roger, Earl of Shrewsbury, " Tuder, quidam Walensis " — a certain Welshman called Tudor.
