YEO. An ancient Devonshire family. The Teo is a small river of that county, a tributary of the Cready into which it falls near the town of Crediton. C. S. Gilbert derives the name from Tre-yeo, in the parish of Lancells, near Stratton, co. Cornwall. Hist. Cornw. ii. 335.
