WALROND. This ancient family were seated at Bradfield, in Uffculm, co. Devon, temp. Henry III. Noble and Gentle Men. The original deed of transfer of Bradfeldo fi-om Fulke Paynel, Lord of Bampton, to one Walerande, an ancestor, temp. King John, is still in the possession of the family. It would appear from B.L'G. that the family were resident there before the date of that grant, under the name De Bradfelle, viz., in 1154; and thatof Waleran or Walroud was assumed early in the reign
