TARDY. Au ancient French family, who embracing the doctrines of the Eeformation, suffered much persecution, both in the XVI. and XVII. centuries. They resided for many generations at La Trcmblade, in the province of Santonge. The first settler in Ireland was Monsieur Elie Tardy, who took up his residence at Dublin about 1760. B.L.G.
