SOUTHWELL. The family are of great antiquity in Nottinghamshire, where they were lords of Southwell, till the reign of Henry VI. They afterwards settled in Norfolk and Suffolk, whence the ancestor of the Viscount Southwell removed to Ireland temp. James I. Peerage.
