PAULET
As described in historical dictionaries
Patronymica Britannica (1860)
PAULET. The patriarch of this noble family was Hercules, lord of Tournon in Picardy, who coming into England, temp. Henry I., and settling on the lordship of Paulet, CO. Hants, assumed his surname therefrom. Courthope's Debrett. Dugdale states, however, that the family borrowed their name fi-om Paulet (now Pawlctt) in Somersetshire, and he does not trace the pedigree beyond Sir John Paulet, who died 2. Richard II.
