A corruption of Mohun, or it may be local, from the island Anglesey or Mona, so called, as some suppose, from mwyn, Welsh, mines, from its stone-quarries and mines; others derive it from mon or mona, alone, separated. Mwyn, Welsh, affable, pleasant.
