LUCK. LUCRE. A native either of Lucca, in Italy, or of Liege, in the Netherlands. Speaking of the latter town, Andrew Borde, in his Boke of Knowledge, says : " The lond of Lewke is a pleasauutcountre; the cheefe towne is the cytie of Lewke. The speche is base Doch." Or it may be from one of the parishes of Luc-sur-mer, or Luc-le-chateau, in Normandy,
