LELAND

(origin: Local) Laland, an island in Denmark, the same as Leylande, the ancient manner of spelling the name, and denotes Low lands. In Welsh, Lle is a place, and Lan a church. Lan may signify any kind of inclosure, as Gwinlan, Perlan, an orchard, a word applied to gardens, houses, castles, or towns.

LELAND. In the West, signifies a cowpasture, but it is also probably the name of some manor or estate.
