Patronymica Britannica (1860)

LEET. LEETE. A meeting of crossroads. Halliw. The origin of Icet as applied to an assembly or convention, as in court-leet, borough-leet, is disputed. See Eichardson's Diet. ; but the primaiy idea of a 'meeting' seems to be borne out by Mr. Halliwell's definition.
