In the "West of England liibhles IS a name given to pieces of firewood, and a ItiihUng-axe is an axe used for cutting them ; hence a Kibbler is a preparer of firewood, still a coimnon trade in many places. In Bedfordshire, however, to hihhle means to walk lamely (Halliwell), and so the surname may signify a cripple.
