GEDDES. Several places in Scotland are called Geddes-hill, Geddeston, Geddeswcll, &c. Hence Gedde is probably a personal name. According to the Statistical Account of Scotland, the family of Geddes, of Eachan in Peeblesshire, have possessed that estate for 1,300 j'ears !
