CALVERLEY. John Scott came into England in the suite of the Princess Maud of Scotland, on her marriage with King Henry I., and acquired the estate of Calvcrlcy, CO. York, whence he adopted the surname, and Avhcre he was resident in 113(i. From him descended a right knightly progeny.
