BRANDER. 1. Perhaps synonymous with SM'order. See Brand. 2. An officer belonging to a manor. His duties are not exactly known ; it has been conjectured that he was the petty executioner wlio branded criminals, and had charge of the pillozy and cuckingstool. See Archasologia XXXIII. 277.
