Patronymica Britannica (1860)

BICKERSTAFF.* The definition is erroneous — the name being local, from Bickerstaffe, a township in the parish of Ormskirk, co. Lancaster, which in early times belonged to the family. It was sometimes written Bickerstath, whence Bickersteth.
